Who we are / Members' Interests

On taking office, and each year subsequently, every member of Hertfordshire Police Authority, including the independent members of the Standards Committee, is required to complete and sign a form declaring their financial and other interests. This form is counter-signed by the Executive Director. This is in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Members and the Local Government Act 2000.

Interests are declared so that the public, fellow members and authority staff know which of a member's interests may give rise to a conflict of interests when issues are discussed at meetings, and action can be taken accordingly, e.g. a member may have to declare his/her interest in a subject under discussion and leave the room while the debate takes place. More information about this can be found at the Standards Board website: www.standardsboard.co.uk.
