POLICE AUTHORITY SELLS EXISTING HERTFORD AND WARE POLICE STATION

At its meeting on Friday (22 February) Hertfordshire Police Authority confirmed that a conditional contract has been exchanged for the sale of the existing Hertford and Ware Police Station site on Ware Road in Hertford.

The purchaser is Zog Brownfield Ventures (Hertford) Limited.

Work is already well advanced on the new Hertford Police Station at Solartron House on Hale Road, Hertford, which it is expected to be fully operational from April 14th, 2008. In addition, a new Ware police station will open in the town centre by Summer 2008.

Police Authority member, Anne Wright, said: “This is an exciting milestone in our aim to make policing in the county more local and more accessible for everyone. In particular, it will enable communities, such as Ware, to have a physical police presence in the middle of the town.”

Chief Superintendent Al Thomas, Eastern Area Commander, said: “We are delighted to be moving to both of these new premises. By moving to the new site in Hertford and by providing a new Neighbourhood Police Station in Ware we are moving policing back into the heart of the communities we serve.”
