POLICE AUTHORITY WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS
Harpenden resident, Bengie Walden, is one of three new Independent members appointed to Hertfordshire Police Authority who take up their roles in April.
Also appointed are Kevin McGetrick from Digswell and Sue Warman from Watford. Current Independent member and Vice Chair of the Authority, Brenda Griffiths from Radlett, has been re-appointed for a further four years.
Chair of the Authority, Ian Laidlaw-Dickson, congratulated the new members on their appointments. Ian said, “We had over 50 excellent applicants for the four vacancies, but I believe the people we appointed offer a wide mix of ability, skills and experience that will benefit the Authority enormously. On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to offer them my congratulations and look forward to working with them in the future”.
Charity Consultant and former charity chief executive, Bengie, said “I am delighted to have been appointed to the Authority. The task is an interesting and challenging one, but I hope my experience of a full career in the Royal Marines and several years as a charity professional will be of service to the community.”
Ian added, “Our thanks and best wishes go to our three existing Independent members and Magistrate member, who decided to stand down at the end of March. Peter Holland, Christine Adey, Simon Marlow and Robin Lipscombe have given sterling service to the Authority and have helped steer policing in Hertfordshire through periods of great change. We wish them well for the future, and their contribution and input will be greatly missed.”
