POLICE AUTHORITY SAYS FAREWELL TO FOUR MEMBERS

At a function on Wednesday evening, Hertfordshire Police Authority said farewell to four members who stand down at the end of March – Independent members Peter Holland, Christine Adey and Simon Marlow, and Magistrate member Robin Lipscombe.

Peter Holland joined as an Independent member in 1995, served as the Authority Chair from 1997 to 2003 and currently chairs the Human Resources Working Group. Peter was awarded the CBE for services to policing in the New Year Honours 2005. “We are extremely grateful for Peter’s huge contribution to Police Authority matters, especially for overseeing great change during his spell as Chair. He has made a huge impact on policing, both locally and nationally, and we wish him well on his appointment as Chair of the National Policing Improvement Agency”, said Police Authority Chair, Ian Laidlaw-Dickson.

Robin Lipscombe joined the Authority in 1999 as one of three Magistrate members, served as the Authority’s Vice Chair for three years from 2003 to 2006, and is the current Lead member for North Herts. “Both the Authority, and myself personally, appreciate Robin’s support and dedication, particularly for his spell as Vice Chair of the Authority, when often difficult and challenging decisions had to be made. I am sure that Robin’s recent appointment, as Chair of the Hertfordshire Probation Board, will prove equally successful”, said Ian.

Christine Adey joined the Authority in 1999, is currently the Lead member for Welwyn Hatfield, and chairs the Authority’s Community Engagement Committee. “Christine has shown great dedication and enthusiasm towards her Authority duties over the years, and her knowledge and commitment in promoting wider community engagement and consultation across the county, but particularly in Welwyn Hatfield, does her, and the Authority great credit”, said Ian.

Simon Marlow was appointed as an Authority member in 2003, currently chairs the Policing Plan Working Group, leads for the Authority on youth engagement and consultation issues, and is the Lead member for East Herts. “Simon has brought an energetic and dynamic approach to his Authority responsibilities and his positive work on behalf of all communities, young and old, and his leadership in East Herts is greatly appreciated”, added Ian.
