NEW MEMBERS FOR POLICE AUTHORITY
Three new independent members were appointed to Hertfordshire Police
Authority this week.
East Herts resident, Simon Marlow, Philina Toiny
from Carpenders Park and Brenda Griffiths from Radlett take up their
new posts from the beginning of April. Current Authority Chairman,
Peter Holland, and Vice-Chairman of the Community Engagement Committee,
Christine Adey, were re-appointed for a further four years.
Leading the appointments panel, Vice-Chairman
of the Authority, Ian Laidlaw-Dickson, said: "We had over 50
applicants for the five vacancies so some tough decisions had to
be made along the way. But I believe the people we have appointed
bring an excellent mix of ability, skills and experience that will
benefit the Authority enormously. On behalf of my colleagues, I
would like to offer them our congratulations and look forward to
working with them in the future.
"Our thanks and best wishes also go our existing
independent member, Bryan Lund, who is standing down at the end
of March. Bryan has been with the Authority since it was set up
in 1995 and his contributions will be missed. He chaired our Resources
Committee and has been our lead member on financial issues for some
considerable time. He has also done some excellent work as the Authority's
lead member for Watford and Three Rivers. In particular, he pioneered
the county-wide Handy Van scheme which gives practical help to victims
of burglaries".
