A GUIDE TO MAKING A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE POLICE
‘A guide to making a complaint about the police’ is the Authority’s new leaflet that provides information on how to make a formal complaint about a police officer, a member of police staff or about a policy or procedure.
The leaflet is just one of the ways used by the Police Authority to make the complaints process easier for everyone. The Authority is keen to make this information available to all communities in Hertfordshire and the leaflet is available in eight languages – English, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Italian, Chinese, Turkish and Polish.
We recognise that some people may find it difficult to make their complaint directly to the police. We have, therefore, set up a number of ‘gateway’ organisations that can act on behalf of members of the public. These are listed on the back of the leaflet and details are provided below. These organisations play an important role in making the complaints process accessible to all communities.
