Part 2 / Involving our Communities / Initiatives Fund

Hertfordshire Police Authority set up its Initiatives Fund in 1997 to provide practical financial support to community safety initiatives. Since then it has helped around 200 projects to get started.

The aims of the Fund are to:

Promote crime prevention

Improve community safety

Reduce the fear of crime

All successful applications will support one or more aims of the Fund. They will demonstrate a proven need for the project and have a strong emphasis on partnership work, particularly the local community safety strategy. Priority will be given to projects that:

Provide young people with a planned diversion away from crime and antisocial behaviour;

Improve safety for elderly or vulnerable people;

Reduce the fear of crime.
